 Long View is a small city located primarily in
Catawba County in the foothills of Western North Carolina
and adjacent to the much larger city of
Hickory. Long View was
incorporated in 1907, and part of it also extends into nearby
Burke County. Long View is primarily a residential community
and
 is continuous with Hickory, where most Long View residents work.
It has an outstanding
Recreation Center for public use which is located on 2nd
Avenue, with nearby facilities that include a playground for
children, walking track, tennis courts and a ball field.
Long View also is home to a number of businesses of
note, including the industrial service Maple Springs Laundry, and
furniture companies Drexel Heritage and Century Furniture. The
Hickory Regional Airport is located in Long View area and the
city is also close to the home field of the
Hickory Crawdads, a Class A minor league baseball team.
