Bakersville, North Carolina
Bakersville NC, founded in the mid 1800's and incorporated in 1870, is
the home of the famous
North Carolina Rhododendron Festival
held every spring during the height of the blooming season. The
county seat of Mitchell County, Bakersville still retains the charm
of a small mountain community, and is a convenient jumping-off point
to explore the surrounding mountains. Every spring the Bakersville
Creek Walk Arts Festival is held along the banks of Cane Creek, with
over 50 artists and crafters displaying their work. Bakersville also
has two farmer's markets open every Saturday morning -the
Bakersville Farmer's Market and the Community Market held at the
Creek Walk pavilion.
