The
Senator Sam J. Erwin Jr. Museum is located is located on the
campus of
Western Piedmont Community College in the Phifer Learning
Resources Center, and is a replica of the late Senator
Ervin’s home library, as it existed at 515 Lenoir Street in Morganton. A
7,500-item collection of Ervin’s books and professional and family memorabilia
is housed in the library. Senator Ervin is best known for serving as the
Chairman of the Senate Watergate Committee in the 1970s.
