The
Old Burke County Courthouse & Heritage Museum features a restored 19th century courthouse with displays
and exhibits about the building, the early court system, and local history.
Exhibits include a restored turn-of-the-century lawyer’s office,
including information on the North Carolina Supreme Court justices
who held summer sessions of the Supreme Court in the Old Courthouse
from 1847 to 1862 The museum also has
changing exhibits on selected aspects of early Burke County life and culture as
well as a 20-minute slide presentation on Burke County heritage.
