Shelton House, Museum of North Carolina Handicrafts

   Located in the historic 1875 Shelton House, the Museum of North Carolina Handicrafts features a unique the works of some of the state’s most renowned artisans. Special collections of pottery are exhibited in nearly every room of the Shelton House including examples from Seagrove and rare pieces from Jugtown Potteries and Pisgah Potteries. There is also an extensive collection of native American artifacts as well. Other rooms house collections of coverlets, quilts, china painting, jewelry, period furniture and musical instruments.

Directions: From Asheville take I-40 West to Exit 27 and follow NC 19/23 South to Waynesville onto Hwy. 276. This road turns into Main Street. Past the 1st Baptist Church bear left 2 blocks to intersection of 276 and Shelton Street. Museum is on corner.
