Housed in the historic Lucas Mansion, the Hiddenite Center, is a step back in time. This folk and cultural arts center features an exhibition of native gems and minerals, one of which is the 294-pound Carolina crystal, as well as a superb doll collection dating from the 1800s. The changing exhibitions of the gallery and the period-house furnishings all contribute to the unique experience of the Hiddenite Center and allow the visitors to this lovely turn-of-the-century Victorian mansion not only to learn about the past but to experience it. Educational activities and arts programming are held on a regular basis.
