The
Asheville Area Arts Council has a long history as one of the oldest arts
councils in the country. Formed from a working committee of the Junior League,
the Civic Arts Council (CAC) was incorporated in 1952. They host three galleries
at their Biltmore Avenue location: The Front Gallery, The Back Gallery and
the Boardroom Gallery.
The mission of the Arts Council is to enrich the local community by
educating all people in the Asheville area about the arts, advocating
integration of the arts in all aspects of community life, and supporting artists
and arts organizations.
