One of the largest and most outstanding street festivals in America, Bele Chere attracts
more than 300,000 people
each year. Bele Chere, which roughly translates as
“beautiful living,” always begins with a parade on Friday at noon with the
festival continuing through Sunday until 6 p.m. Bele Chere is usually held on
the last weekend in July.
Parking is available downtown at city parking decks adjacent to the Civic
Center, o n Rankin Avenue, Wall Street, Pack Place, and the BB&T building.
Many surface lots are also open for parking; a special events parking fee
will apply in most cases.
If you are a visitor to Asheville for Bele Chere, I recommend that you park in
one of the two easily accessed outlying parking areas and take the shuttle buses
that run approximately every 20 minutes.
If you are planning to attend Bele Chere, please keep in mind that
accommodations in Asheville fill up every year, so make your reservations early
in the year. For more information about Bele Chere contact their office at 828-259-5800
or visit their
website at
